FAQ

Product Questions

How are your products made?
We select the highest quality ingredients we can find, then carefully cold-blend them in small batches. Cold-blending is our way of making our products without cooking them to retain as many nutrients as possible while you enjoy the freshest taste. To learn more, check out our blog post here

Do your products have to be refrigerated before and after they're opened?
Yes. All our products need to be refrigerated to maintain freshness. Please always check the best before date.

How long is your shelf life?
Our products are always free from artificial preservatives and rely on the natural low pH from our ingredients such as unfiltered apple cider vinegar and lemon juice to preserve them. Our best before date varies between products so please always check the label and keep them refrigerated.

Can I consume your products if I have an allergy?
All major allergens recognized by the FDA and CFIA are listed in the ingredients and highlighted on our packaging. Some of our products contain or may contain sesame and/or coconut.

We work hard to make all our products accessible to as many people as possible and pride ourselves on not including peanuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy or canola in our products or facility. Please always check the label.

Why am I having trouble shaking my dressing?
Our dressings are all made with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), which naturally rises to the top and thickens in the fridge (below 38°F / 3°C). When you’re ready to use your dressing, we suggest giving it a couple of minutes on the countertop or running the bottle under warm water. Give it a powerful shake and it’s ready to use.

Why do you use cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) in your products?
We exclusively use first, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil as the base of all our products for its premium flavor and excellent nutritional profile. We believe it’s a source of healthy monounsaturated fat loaded with powerful antioxidants, which is why we trust it for our products’ smooth consistency and homemade taste.

How do I use your Vegan Quesos?
Our Vegan Quesos can be used the same way you use regular queso. Because they have a base of cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, they can be cooked with, used as a dip or a tasty spread.

Check out our blog post for recipe ideas here.

Are your Vegan Quesos organic?
Our quesos are non-GMO. They do not qualify for organic certification because of the amount of non-organic nutritional yeast, but sill contain organic ingredients.

Why are my dips/quesos separating when left out of the fridge?
Our dips and quesos have a base of premium cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil that naturally separates and thickens when cold. Once they're at room temperature, you may notice some separation - it’s natural! Just give them a good stir and they’re good to go.

Can my to-go packs be kept out of the fridge?
All of Mother Raw products are meant to be refrigerated. Our to-go packs can be left out of the fridge while you are out and about. We don’t recommend leaving them out for more than a few days for the optimal fresh taste experience! .

Are to-go packs the same formula as your glass bottled dressing?
Yes! Our to-go packs are filled with the same organic, plant-based dressing just in a convenient portable size.

Does a 5-pack of dressing to-go packs count towards free shipping?
Yes! Our 5-packs of dressing to-go packs are considered one singular product. Add them to your cart with your other favorite Mother Raw products, and If you purchase 6 products total, shipping is free!

Is your packaging recyclable?

Our BBQ sauce can be enjoyed the same way as any other BBQ sauce. You can cook with it or eat it from the jar, we don’t judge!

Are your products non-GMO?
Yes. All of our products are non-GMO.

Are all your products vegan?
Yes. All our products are vegan.

Why do you use hemp seeds in some of your products?
Organic hemp seeds are used to naturally thicken our products. The bonus is they’re nutrient powerhouses packed with protein, omega-3 and even the rare omega-6 GLA. GLA has anti-inflammatory, blood-sugar balancing and skin health benefits. Oh yes, they also contain fibre, magnesium, iron and zinc.

What is dulse?
Dulse is a seaweed or sea vegetable with a salty, deep umami flavor that is rich in vitamins and minerals. We use it in some of our dressings as natural seasoning to add depth of flavor and nutrition. It is a source of potassium and iron and is particularly rich in iodine and vitamin B6.

Why do you use nutritional yeast in some products?
Nutritional yeast has long been considered a healthy dietary choice because it’s high in protein and low in calories and carbs. Its naturally cheesy, nutty, savory taste makes it the perfect plant-based replacement for cheese. It’s also a powerful source of B vitamins, which helps convert food into fuel.

Why do you use chia seeds?
We love using chia seeds to naturally thicken our products. Chia seeds are rich plant source of Omega-3 fatty acids and an excellent low carbohydrate source of fibre, protein, calcium, manganese, magnesium and phosphorus.

Why do you use cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)?
We exclusively use first and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil as the base of all our products for premium flavor and great health properties. We believe it’s a source of healthy monounsaturated fat loaded with powerful antioxidants, which is why we trust it for our products’ smooth consistency and homemade quality.

What do you use to sweeten your products?
Our pantry is home to naturally sweet, always unrefined ingredients such as mission figs, maple syrup, dates and coconut palm sugar.

We love figs for their natural sweetness and admirable amounts of fibre, calcium, iron, potassium and manganese. Maple syrup also contains the antioxidant manganese and immune-boosting zinc, magnesium, calcium and potassium. Find both these ingredients in our Maple Fig dressing and marinadhere!

Our coconut sugar is derived from coconut palm sap, a sustainable sweetener that’s low-glycemic and a source of iron, zinc, calcium, potassium.

We use dates in our condiments for their natural sweetness and because they add perfect texture. We also love their health properties; they’re high in antioxidants, fibre, magnesium, manganese and vitamin B6.

These ingredients are not found in all of our products. Always check the list of ingredients for the products you're interested in.
