Ingredient Spotlight: Nutritional Yeast

Nutritional Yeast is truly having its moment in the spotlight! Most widely known for its cheese-like taste, it’s made its way into many plant-based recipes and is slowly becoming a household staple. Nutritional yeast shines in many Mother Raw dressings and dips including Caesar dressing, CheeSauce and many more!

Not your Typical Yeast

You may have guessed that nutritional, baker’s and brewer’s yeast all come from the same family (Saccharomyces Cerevisiae). But don’t be fooled, nutritional yeast isn’t your typical yeast that you would find in a baker’s pantry. Nutritional yeast is an inactive form of yeast, unlike bakers and brewer’s yeast, that is commonly used for its unique cheesy and nutty flavor profile and nutritional benefits.

Golden on the Outside, Goodness on the Inside

Nutritional yeast has exceptional nutritional benefits and we love its healthful contributions to our products.

Nutritional yeast is a powerful source of B vitamins. B vitamins are working hard behind the scenes (at the cellular level) making sure that our bodies are operating efficiently and effectively and are known for their help in converting nutrients into energy. Who doesn’t want more energy!?

Nutritional yeast is also a great source of high-quality protein that is filled with the essential amino acids and contains minerals (iron, selenium, potassium and calcium),which contribute to our health and wellness, such as supporting healthy immunity.

The Star Ingredient

Whether added to your veggie casserole, melted into your mac and cheese, or sprinkled on top of your popcorn, nutritional yeast is known as the ultimate cheese flavor alternative for plant-based enthusiasts.
